Mission and Vision

OUR VISION

Located in the Lincoln-way area, we are a multi-generational church, living in joy for God’s glory, and the love for one another in Jesus Christ

And he gave the apostles, the prophets, the evangelists, the shepherds and teachers, to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ, until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ…Ephesians 4:11-13

We seek to be a church that glorifies God by bearing witness to the present rule and reign of Jesus Christ as revealed in His Word and to embody that truth in our doctrine, worship and life.

As a member congregation of the Presbyterian Church in America (PCA), Missio Dei Church is a confessional church, fully committed to living out the rich theology, piety, and practice of the historic Christian faith recovered at the Protestant Reformation, and best summarized in the Westminster Confession of Faith.

OUR MISSION

We believe that the bible is the whole counsel of God and concerns both this vision of what a mature body of Christ looks like and also concerns how our church gets there.  God has determined in his Word the following means to build his church:

Biblical Worship

Every person is created to worship God, to acknowledge his beauty and greatness,  to love and serve him above all else.  Our greatest joy comes when God is clearly glorified.  Corporate worship is the time in our week when we renew our commitment to this supreme goal.  It is a time for us to grow in our awareness of God’s presence, savor in his grace, and receive the strengthening of his Holy Spirit as a community through Sunday corporate worship, other seasonal times of community worship, in family devotions of worship, and personal rhythms of prayer and praise.

Vibrant Community

Corporate worship on Sunday is the pinnacle of our week, from which God is glorified and we are shaped into his image of Christ, into the wholeness as men and women by the power of the Holy Spirit.  We believe that we not only worship him for his glory but live out that glory through the rest of the week in love, praise and service to God.  It is in the church’s unique role in this process to train and support one another for that service, to be the fountainhead of refreshment, strength and wisdom for launching out into the world.

Church Multiplication

Jesus Christ declares to his followers that he will build his church and the gates of hell will not overpower it.  It is within the church that Christ accomplishes his mission to make disciples of all the nations.  Our calling in this life of our community flows through our support to missionaries in the church worldwide and planting churches in our communities.  We seek to draw people into the life of our community by sending our members out to faithfully proclaim and embody Christ in the places he has called them to live, serve, and work, gathering more worshipers to himself.

OUR PURPOSE

Missio Dei Church’s greatest joy and purpose is living for God’s glory as we make disciples in our neighborhoods, our communities  and the world.
