With the abundance of children that God has blessed Missio Dei with, we are entering into a new season. We wanted to share some of the changes with you regarding the different age groups so that you can be fully informed before you come for corporate worship on Sunday morning.
SPECIAL NOTE: The Elders would strongly encourage you to make every effort to include your child(ren) for the entire time of corporate worship. If worship is truly the most valuable thing a human can do, and if we believe that the chief means by which God pours out grace upon His people is through the ministry of the Word, the administration of the sacraments, and prayer, can you then imagine the cumulative effect of 936 worship services spent with their parent(s) (birth - 18 years old). You cannot begin to calculate its value!
How do I do this? Here are some suggestions!
Our nursery is located upstairs across the hall from the community room. Here kids will be able to play upstaris with other kids their age. In this room, there is some minor structored activity as the kids are still developing into who God has made them to be. You may drop your child(ren) off when you enter the building and when corporate gathered worship has ended, you may head back upstairs to sign your child(ren) out.
These children are with you during the first half of corporate gathered worship. We invite these children up to the front just before the sermon to be prayed for and sent downstairs. When corporate gathered worship has ended, you may head downstairs to sign your child(ren) out.
These kids will start off with you in corporate worship and will be dismissed just before the sermon.
We are currently using curriculum from Treasuring Christ to serve and teach our kids. This curriculum has helped resource our teachers to be more creative and to share the Gospel story all the more clearer for our kids!
Additionally, we have two catechism classes that meet after gathered worship (11:00-11:30 AM). The younger group (3rd - 5th grade) uses the New City Catechism, while the older group (junior high and high school) uses the Westminster Shorter Catechism.
